Community Dinghy Sailing

The Community Sailing Programme runs from April to September.  The aims of the scheme is to promote sailing to members of the community, with an emphasis on the education of young people.

The Glencoe Outdoor Centre kindly support the program and provide all the equipment other than shoes for sailing.

Racing

There is also an opportunity for keen sailors to take part in the racing programme both locally or further a field. There will be local regattas including our own as well as travelling to other clubs to race in a Topper travellers series of races.

Currently Erin Mills, Ryan MacIntyre and Ruaridh Mills represent Glencoe Boat Club at regional and National events.

Groups and Qualifications

Last year many children started and completed an RYA qualification. We would like to continue with this, this year, so if you have a logbook please have a look at it and bring it along. We have a number of books and videos available on loan to anybody interested improving their sailing skills.

Our groups are organised dependent on age and experience.  We thought we would name the groups this year from beginners to racers!

           Beginners –      Shipmates

           Improvers -        Pirates

           Sailors -           Masters

           Racers -           Commanders

Hopefully everyone can move up during the season. To be able to take a club boat out you would have to become a Master.
